FSR Glass CNC Machining Center

FSR dikey CNC cam işleme merkezi — Deka Makine

What is the FSR Vertical Glass CNC Machining Center?

Glass CNC machining center, It is a multifunctional machine capable of performing drilling, milling, grinding, and polishing operations on a glass sheet in a single machine, under computer control. In the classic approach, these operations are performed on separate machines, and the glass is moved at each step; the machining center, however, manages the entire chain. in a single context completes.

Important terminology warning: “The term "vertical machining center" is predominantly used in Türkiye. metal It is used for operating CNC machines. Its equivalent in the glass industry is... vertical glass CNC machining centerThese two machines are completely different — they are processed by glass etching, with continuous water cooling and diamond tools.

When does it make sense to use a machining center instead of separate machines?

A machining center isn't the right answer for every production run. What determines the decision is... It is the number of different operations you perform per part.

The machining center has advantages. — if you need both drilling, die-cutting, and edge processing on a single sheet of glass. Shower enclosure glass, railings, glass doors, and furniture glass are typical examples. Since you don't move the glass between machines, both the risk of breakage and cycle time are reduced; moreover, positioning errors that occur in each configuration are eliminated.

Separate machines are advantageous. — if you are doing high-volume, uniform processing. If you are only doing edge finishing for insulated glass, a dedicated one is needed. break-in machine It is both faster and more economical. Similarly, if you are only drilling holes, a dedicated one is needed. drilling machine It is more efficient.

The difference of vertical configuration

Glass processing centers are divided into two types: horizontal (tabletop) and vertical. Horizontal centers are advantageous for complex internal cavity work and large-diameter shaped cuts, but they require a large floor area and necessitate laying the glass on the table.

Vertical machining centers It keeps the slab in an upright position: it takes up less space, shortens glass handling time, and most importantly, integrates directly into your existing vertical washing and grinding line. In insulating glazing and tempering plants, this eliminates the need to set up a separate handling station.

Four Operations in a Single Context

Transporting the glass to a separate workbench for each processing step represents a hidden cost. Each transport operation means handling time, a risk of breakage, and repositioning errors.

FSR, drilling → milling → grinding → polishing It completes the chain in a single pass. The glass is positioned once and comes out as a finished part. This has three tangible results: cycle time per part is reduced, waste from handling is decreased, and positional accuracy between the hole and the edge is increased — because both are machined from the same reference point.

Thanks to automatic tool changing, these transitions are made without operator intervention; the machine executes the sequence defined in the recipe itself.

Multi-faceted Processing
Drilling, milling, grinding, and polishing are all integrated into a single machine. Separate machine operations are not required for shaped cutting, hollowing out, and edge profiling.
Flat and Shaped Glass
In addition to flat glass sheets, shaped glass pieces can also be processed. Thanks to CNC control, complex geometries are repeated with the same precision in every part.
Line Integration
It can operate independently or be integrated inline into your existing vertical washing and rinsing line. This eliminates the need to install a separate handling station.

Glass CNC Machining — Frequently Asked Questions

"Are "vertical machining centers" and "glass CNC machining centers" the same thing?
No. "Vertical machining center" is a term used in Türkiye primarily for CNC machines that process metal. Glass machining centers are an entirely different class of machine: glass is processed by grinding, not cutting, diamond tools are used, and continuous water cooling is required.
Is it more sensible to buy a machining center instead of separate machines?
If you need multiple processes (drilling + shaped cutting + edge finishing) on a single sheet, yes — both cycle time and risk of breakage are reduced because you don't move the glass between machines. However, if you are doing high-volume, single-type processing (for example, edge finishing only for insulated glass), a dedicated machine is faster and more economical.
What operations can it perform on a single machine?
FSR integrates vertical drilling, milling, grinding, and polishing operations. Any one of these operations, or a combination thereof, can be performed on flat or shaped glass sheets in a single setup.
Vertical or horizontal machining center?
Horizontal (table-type) centers are advantageous for complex internal hollowing and large-diameter shaped cutting, but require a large footprint. Vertical centers take up less space, have shorter glass handling times, and integrate directly into your existing vertical washing/grinding line.
Can tempered glass be processed?
No. After tempering, you cannot drill, cut, or edge the glass — it will shatter. All CNC operations must be completed before it enters the tempering furnace.

Technical and Service

Does it include installation and operator training?
Yes. We handle the on-site installation, commissioning, and operator training of the machine. CNC machine training also includes recipe creation and program management.
How does after-sales technical support work?
We can remotely access and operate the machines; fault diagnosis and most software-related issues are resolved without a site visit. On-site service is scheduled when needed.
Is it difficult to create a new track program?
Part geometry is defined via the control panel, and the process sequence is saved as a recipe. Saved recipes can be recalled; setup time is eliminated when the same part is produced again. Training covers this process.
How long does it take to get spare parts?
Since we manufacture our own products, we directly manage the spare parts stock and supply process. There are no long waiting times experienced with imported machines.
Can it be integrated into my existing line?
Yes. The FSR can operate independently or be integrated inline into your existing vertical washing and rinsing line. If you share your line's dimensions and speed information, we can determine the compatible configuration together.
